Benue state government is to exploit the investment opportunities available in Japan to the advantage of its people.
Governor Samuel Ortom stated this today in an interview with Correspondents at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on arrival from Japan where he attended the Tokyo International Conference on African Development TICAD.
He said while in Japan on invitation by the Nigeria Governors Forum, he made contact with the Japanese authorities through the Nigeria Embassy to Japan so as to key into the available business opportunities there to add value to the development of the state.
Governor Ortom stated that the state government would key into Japan's high level agricultural technology especially in the area of processing of agricultural produce in order to enhance the capacity for both commercial and subsistence purposes.
According to the Governor, the conference also provided him the opportunity to interface with organisations such as NEXIM Bank, African Development Bank, Nigerian Export Processing Council, Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority and Bank of Industry to expand investment frontiers in Benue through grants.
Governor Ortom told Correspondents that he would be visiting Cote d'ivoire later in the year to follow up on the contacts made with other African Nations during the Japan Conference all with a view to attracting partnerships that could add value to the socio economic growth of the state.
He said the conference is one of Japan's many ways of supporting African Nations over the years to develop capacity in many areas of human endeavours such as disaster management, adding that, as a participant, he has benefitted immensely from the event.
