As a part of follow up to the Youth Empowerment Programme embarked upon by Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) where 300 Benue Youth are currently undergoing training in five skill areas of Baking and confectionary, hair dressing, fashion design, shoe making and food processing, an ESLF monitoring team toured the various training centers to find out the level of progress made by the beneficiaries.
The main objectives of the monitoring visits were to assess the quality of training, commitment of trainees and challenges of both trainers and trainees. The training centers include; Floral Creations, Transformation Clinic, Otato Fashion House, Top Choice Bakery, Kesh Collection Ventures, Gussia Couture, Double-D Designs and Dosh Fashion World.
Report from the field shows that participants are really making remarkable progress in their different areas, even though there is more room for improvement towards perfecting their skills. Those learning fashion designing have been able to make Skirts, blouses, etc. by themselves.
Also at Kesh Collection Ventures, the leather works training center, participants are almost done with the process of making a complete shoe. Those at Floral Creation are already producing snacks for sale.
The beneficiaries confessed to the fact that before enrollment into the bakery school, they saw bakery as magical and mystical. To them it was an impossible dream but now that they have been enrolled and are receiving training, the act of bakery has been demystified and it is now a dream come true.
