Boko Haram: Buratai queries continuous stay of IDPs in camps in Borno

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T.Y Buratai has said that, the most important thing for the military is to ensure that all Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs return to their villages after the military has liberated most of the villages across the state, but wondered why the IDPs are still living in camps across the state.
Buratai stated this on Thursday while answering questions from journalists during a round of free medical outreach by the medical corps of the Nigerian Army, at the NYSC IDPs camp, which is currently housing 17,678 victims of the Boko Haram insurgency from three local government areas of Borno state.
The Army Chief, who said he had gone round the council areas including Bama, which is most affected by the Boko Haram Crises, said, he was surprised that the IDPs were still in camps even with the fact that the military have cleared and liberated some of the affected areas.
Earlier, the Acting Corps Commander, medical (CCM) of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Clifford Wanda, said, the one peculiar thing with the ongoing medical outreach at the NYSC camp was the effort to reach out to every vulnerable person, not only the IDPs as such, as there is no specific target of persons to be consulted.
He also thanked the Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Theatre Commander, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru and the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf for the support.
