Nigeria League Review: Plateau United stun Sunshine in Akure

Plateau United and Enugu Rangers produced the most outstanding results in the midweek Nigeria    Professional Football League games played across the country on Wednesday 
While Plateau United revalidated their credentials as real title contenders with an away win over Sunshine Stars in Akure, Rangers ended the winning streak of El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri on Wednesday.
El-Kanemi before Wednesday had recorded 25 straight wins at home but that they were forced to a 1-1 draw by the hosts today.
Daniel Etor put Rangers in front before ElKanemi fought back to draw level late on.
In Akure, league leaders Plateau United came from behind to beat Sunshine Stars 2-1 in Akure with the home team’s goalkeeper Ariyo David sent off for protesting Plateau’s winning goal.
Elsewhere, Niger Tornados did enough to get all three points as they pipped Rivers United 1-0 in Lokoja.
Tony Okpotu scored the fifth hat-trick of the NPFL season when Lobi Stars dumped title chasers MFM FC 3-1 at home.
Shooting Stars on their part had to settle for a scoreless draw at home by Kano Pillars; a result that has seen fans calling for the head of Coach Fatai Amoo.
