KWANDE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL HONOURS MRS. ORUBIBI WITH A CHIEFTAINCY TITLE

The Kwande Traditional Council of Benue State on Thursday, 29th June, 2017 honoured their daughter, Mrs. Mimi Azdape-Orubibi with a Chieftaincy Title. The Ter Kwande, Chief Hilary Ikima who conferred the title of Iwanger i Kwande (the Shining Light of Kwande)on Mrs. Orubibi said, it is in recognition of her “illumining qualities that transcends the nook and corners of Kwande and beyond, bringing succor and smiles on the faces of the teaming jobless youths and the elderly alike”; adding that her selfless services to the people of Benue and consequent transformation of the state’s economy through significant improvement in IGR cannot be left unrecognized. He urged her to continue to do her work diligently within the confines of transparency and accountability. The 2nd Class Chief also noted that Mrs. Orubibi was the first to be conferred a Chieftaincy title since the beginning of his reign in 2012.

In his remarks, Chief Terlumun Akputu, the Asor Tar U Kwande prophesied that Mrs. Orubibi’s present office is just a stepping stone towards the Federal level, given the way she has conducted herself so far. He encouraged her to do her best for the development of Benue state and the nation at large, not minding what people will say.
Other Speakers at the event which include the Professor of Tiv Politics, Elder Alago Azege, Chief Terkaa Gemade as well as Mue Ter Chongu Chief Simon Baver all extolled the sterling qualities of the honouree which has not just endeared her to the Kwande Traditional Council but also informed their decision to confer on her the prestigious title of “the Shining Light of Kwande”, thanking her for the unprecedented achievements recorded within the short period of her stay in office with the charge to do more.

Responding on behalf of the Husband’s family, Dr. Seleipiri Orubibi who came with other family members from Port Harcourt, Rivers state to represent the husband of the honouree who is resident in faraway Canada thanked the Ter Kwande and the good people of Benue for standing by their wife. According to Dr. Orubibi, they are always proud to associate with the Tiv people because their daughter has also brought light to their family, praying that God will continue to lift her to greater heights.

In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Orubibi who described the honour as a surprise to her thanked God Almighty, the Ter Kwande and the entire Traditional Council for finding her worthy of the honour, even though she was carrying out her duties without knowing that people were paying attention and observing carefully. The honouree described the title as a precious gift of God and said no amount of money could have bought same. She particularly expressed her sentiment of gratitude to the Board members, Management and Staff of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service for standing by her to make sure that IGR is greatly improved. Mrs. Orubibi also thanked their Excellences, the Executive Governor and his amiable wife for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of Benue state in the area of revenue generation.
