Amongst those that voted us into office, are thousands of Nigerian youths who are without jobs. To have been their choice in the last election, is a clear indication of what hope and expectation they have of our being in office.
This awareness has kept me looking for ways to reward their faith in me/us. Therefore, 2 weeks ago, I raised a motion on the floor of the House with the intent, solely, to better their lot.
It will be recalled that, several weeks ago, the Minister of Finance announced the discovery of more than 23,000 Ghost workers in the Federal Civil Service! They are now expelled from the pay system.
However, the Federal Government, by paying their salaries and allowances over time, has demonstrated the capacity to cater for such workforce.
Therefore, two weeks ago, I moved a motion urging the Executive Arm of Government at the Federal level to immediately replace these numbers of Ghost workers with actual job applicants and have a uniform spread among the 36 States of the Federation plus Abuja. I further urged that real work be assigned to them so they too can contribute their quota to the development of father land - even as the measure also reduces the number of unemployed Nigerians.
Thankfully, my colleagues rose to applaud and support this motion and the House has since communicated her resolution on the matter to the Presidency and relevant ministries. As the sponsor of this motion, I have pledged to keep up with ensuring that this is done and that several of my constituents and indeed Benue youths benefit from the fruits that are certain to come from this action.
This post is one way to keeping folks abreast of what use I am putting the privilege of representing my constituents at the green chambers. Thanks
