Benue Moves To Face Out Cooking Stove And Firewood

Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom, has blamed previous administration’s failure to diversify the nation’s economy from oil and grow the solid mineral sector.
Mr Ortom disclosed this when he received a consortium of Eta Zuma Groups in Makurdi to make presentation on solid mineral development, coal mining for cooking, which will replace cooking stove and the use of firewood and a 1,200 mega watt power project in the state.

During the presentation, Chairman of the group, Mr Innocent Ezuma, said the cooking coal, when produced in large quantity for domestic use, will address the twin issues of desertification and the negative impact of smoke from the use of firewood which causes lungs diseases.
