Determined to put to a permanent end, the perennial boundary clashes between the people of Ugambe in Gwer local government and Mbayase of Konshisha local government areas of Benue State, the Benue State government is to restart the physical demarcation of the boundary between the two neighbouring communities.
Governor Samuel Ortom disclosed the cheery news at a Peace meeting of the two communities at the Benue People's House, Makurdi.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, Governor Ortom directed the State Surveyor -General to assemble his team to restart the demarcation exercise which was begun but suspended in 2006.
He enthused that both sides opted for peace and the maintenance of peace in the disputed area.and added that the successful demarcation of the common boundary will lead to a clear-cut demarcation and subsequent resolution of the boundary dispute.
In the meantime, the two sides agreed to prevail on their people to maintain peace and refrain from doing anything that would lead to break-down of law and order.
