David Mark using University to fool Idoma people – Benue APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Benue State chapter has described the bill seeking for the establishment of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State as a scam.
APC said the bill, sponsored by Senator David Mark was a scam used to fool Idoma people.
DAILY POST reports that the bill passed first reading at the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday.
The party’s acting publicity secretary, Berger Alfred Emberga in a statement said the bill was another old story told by Mark to win votes.
He said, “After using 18 years to deceive gullible Idoma people about the creation of Apa state, I am hearing that the acclaimed leader of Idoma Nation has come with another story. This time he wants to establish Apa state University or University of Otukpo? As if Idoma people are fools.”
It could be recalled that the Goodluck Jonathan led Federal Executive Council, had on 22nd May 2015, passed a resolution for the university to be established in Otukpo.
Consequently, the National University Commission (NUC), through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), approved the disbursement of the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m), as a takeoff grant for the university.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari, revoked the establishment of the University, at the early days of his administration.
To give a legal backing for the establishment of the institution, the federal lawmakers would subject the bill for debate on its general principles, after which It could pass at second reading.
The next legislative action would be to organise a public hearing with memoranda from stakeholders and members of the public, which would lead to third reading and final passage.
