Speaking at the opening of orientation camp for the 2016 Batch ‘B’ corps members posted to Imo state, Governor Rochas Okorocha, directed the caretaker committee chairmen in the 27 local government areas in the state to allocate land to 1,545 corps members deployed to the state to enhance agricultural production.
According to TheCable News, the APC governor disclosed that this was in line with the state’s determination to identify with the laudable agricultural policy of the federal government to tackle the nation’s problem of food insufficiency.
The Governor who was represented by Eze Madumere, his deputy, advised the corps members to pay serious attention to all programmes lined up for them during the orientation, and urged them to discharge their duties diligently in their various places of assignment.
“I welcome you to Imo hospitality. Pay attention to the programmes lined up for the orientation. Interact with one another and people of the community which is the beauty and essence of the NYSC,” he said.
In reaction, the state coordinator of NYSC, Isaac Fasanu, said 1,545 corps members comprising 855 males and 690 females were posted to Imo, and expressed appreciation to the government for the numerous supports given to the scheme and for approving the construction of two additional hostels in the camp.
