Benue State Executive Council today directed the release of guidelines and timetable for the appointment of Chiefs including the Tor Tiv next week.The Council which was presided over by Governor Samuel Ortom stressed the need to fastrack the appointment of the Tor Tiv and resolved that priority should be given to third and first class Chiefs who constitute the electoral college for the Tiv paramount ruler.
The meeting also approved that Fridays every week be work free days beginning from November 11th 2016 to end of January this year to enable civil servants harvest the produce on their farms.
The council however exempted some workers in education sector maintaining that the School calendar should be allowed to run normally.
It received the news of the receipt of a letter from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria conveying the reaccreditation of the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi.
Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr.Joseph Kumba presented the letter of accreditation to Governor Ortom.
Signed by Abubakar F.U, Secretary General and Registrar of the Council, it commended the Benue State government for giving the entire schools a holistic facelift.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and ICT, Mr.Tahav Agerzua, said according to the contents of the letter, the embargo on students intake has been lifted and an annual admission of 40 students approved with effect from last October this year.
