Benue Investment and Property Company BIPC has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Lagos Construction firm to build affordable houses for the People of Benue State in line with the strategic objective of Governor Ortom's administration.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company,Mr.Jack Mulya stated this in an interview with our Correspondent in Makurdi.
Mr.Mulya explained that under the agreement,the Lagos based firm, Enconpro Limited, is to provide three billion naira to build affordable houses for the People in the Seventy Five hectares of land acquired at Adaka in Makurdi by the Company while modalities for a similar plan to construct housing units in the Twenty-Five-hectre land near Mu for Staff of BSU has also reached advanced stage.
He noted that the Company had equally signed a memorandum of Understanding with a Thailand Firm, Honglu Construction Group Limited, to construct mass houses in Fillindabo and One Man Village areas of Abuja and Nasarawa State respectively . These projects when completed will also benefit Benue indigenes residing in those places as preference will be accorded to them in the acquisition.
Similarly,BIPC has signed an MOU with Infrastructure Bank to develop the Benue Plaza in Lagos and stated that a road map to raise a ten storey building there was being worked out.
Mr. Mulya disclosed plans by the Company to float a micro finance bank before the end of this year,saying the initiative would be one of the means by which the Ortom administration could reach out to the rural populace by way of soft loans to enhance their MSME’s and improve the means of livelihood.
He enumerated achievements recorded by BIPC in the last Six months as rebranding of the Company and it's Personnel,promotion and training of Staff for optimal service delivery, launching of company website and completion of the Company's guest house in Makurdi, among others.
