BENUE SUBEB GETS VEHICLES AND MOTORCYCLES FOR PROJECTS IN THE STATE

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom yesterday inaugurated 9 hillux vans, 81 motorcycles and over 1,000 plastic chairs as well as tables acquired by the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, to facilitate the construction and rehabilitation of 700 primary schools in the state.
The Governor pledged the resolve of his administration to ensure holistic education of the Benue child as demonstrated in the process leading to the award of contracts for the school projects in the 23 local government areas. He commended the Universal Basic Education, UBEC, for providing its side of the counterpart funds.

He said the State Government has restored the confidence of international development partners through prompt payment of counterpart funds for projects inspite of the present economic challenges and called on SUBEB to ensure that companies to be awarded the school contracts keep to the job specification.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Judith Hirnyam, appreciated the efforts made by Governor Ortom in addressing the challenges confronting education.

Earlier in an address of welcome, the Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board, Reverend Dr Philip Tachin assured the Governor that the nine hillux vehicles, motorcycles and other equipment will be put to maximun use. He thanked Governor Ortom for the support accorded the Board, particularly for the release of N3.8 billion to match UBEC’s N3.8 billion for the school projects.
