ORTOM ANNOUNCES PLANS TO HAND OVER SCHOOLS TO OWNERS

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today announced that the state government would hand over schools which the government took from religious organizations.
He disclosed that a committee would be set up to work out the modalities.
The Governor spoke at a special day of prayer for Benue State and its leadership and the launching of the pilot scheme of the win a trip to Israel, WATTI, promo.
The occasion was held at the Chapel of Grace at the Benue Peoples House.
The Governor stated that a comparison between private schools and those owned by the government showed a clear difference in favor of the former.
He said time had come for Nigerians to think outside the box and be creative in order to overcome the current economic downturn.
Governor Ortom applauded the efforts of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Mr John Kennedy Opara, for the innovations he has introduced at the commission and described him as the most creative Chief executive of the organization.
He expressed happiness that the initiative would bring relief to states and federal governments who had difficulty sponsoring pilgrims and requested Muslims to emulate the gesture.
The Executive Secretary, Mr Opara stated that the lottery was introduced as a result of the financial challenges in the country in the efforts to reduce the financial burden of pilgrimages sponsorship on government.
The Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr Adolphus Joe Ekpe, explained that the lottery was different from gambling but rather support for a noble cause which Christians should support.
Mr Istifanus Danladi and Mrs Fatima Agaku won the lottery and were allocated places in this year’s pilgrimage to Israel.
