You may recall that the other time I wrote to you, I informed you about the mundane moves by the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam to jump bail shortly after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, apprehended him and dragged him to the Federal High Court, Abuja, for diverting to his pocket, over N3 billion being proceeds from the sale of the state's shares in Dangote Cement.
You may also recall that Gabriel Suswam had vehemently and repeatedly denied that the shares had been sold. Recall too that Suswam's travel papers were seized for a long time and only given to him recently to enable him travel abroad for "medical attention".
Now, I wish to inform you that Suswam has not given up his plan to escape the impending jail term he is likely to face when convicted by the court. His lawyers have told him that he has a bad case and this has been giving Anyiin-born politician sleepless nights. I guess you heard about his meeting yesterday with some PDP members. What you might not have heard yet is that the black cat came in another guise to bid goodbye to his close associates. Where he plans to run to? I will keep you in touch on that soon.
My inner sources have confided in me that Gabriel Suswam has vowed never to allow the humiliation of being convicted and handed the prison inmates' uniform. He has told some members of his inner circle of friends that he will rather die fighting than sit down to be trapped like a rat. Suswam plans to do the unthinkable! I won't give you all the details now so as not to jeopardise the job of my informants.
The case comes up tomorrow and I am hoping that the issue of non-availability of an interpreter won't delay the case as it happened the last time the matter came up.
Suswam has to go to jail even if for just one day, for committing abominable financial crimes against Benue State.
I will be back.
Yours in truth,
