Dr. Ode accompanied by his team said, PRRI which is a new NGO set up in the last one month is primarily concern on how to empower victims of insurgency in the North-East, particularly IDPs whose houses were destroyed as a result of Boko Haram deadly activities and those in Benue and Taraba states who also suffered the same fate due to communal clashes.
The former Minister who was at SEMA office, off Shehu Laminu Way in Maiduguri, told the Chairman of the Agency, Engineer Ahmed Satomi, that they were in Borno to sympathize with the government and people of the state who suffered untold hardship and loss of lives due to terrorists activities, and to interface and explore areas of partnership on how PRRI will assist in rehabilitating and empower IDPs in various acquisition skills schemes in the state.
While thanking the Borno State Government led by Governor Kashim Shettima, the military and other security agencies in the fight against Boko Haram and liberation of communities in the North-East, Dr. Ode said, his NGO would join the bandwagon to see how it can complement efforts of other humanitarian agencies to alleviate the hardship and sufferings on the faces of the IDPs, through drilling of boreholes and rehabilitation of destroyed structures in these liberated communities.
He noted that some of the plans already mapped out for the IDPs are to make them economically empowered by training them into fields of tailoring, carpentry, vulcanizing, plumbing and engaged them in modern agricultural practices.
He then solicited cooperation from SEMA and the IDPs who are the real beneficiaries of the programme earmarked by his team, and prayed God to restore peace not only in Borno, but the country as a whole.
Responding on behalf of the SEMA Chairman, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Isa Alkali Goni thanked the former minister and his team for setting up an NGO which will directly impact positively on the lives of the IDPs.
