EDO 2016: Read What APC Women Are Planing To Do

By Simon Ebegbulem
The Women’s Wing of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State has vowed to slug it out with the men folk in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party as the party’s first female aspirant, Mrs Tina Agbarha, joins the guber race.
The women who stormed the APC secretariat in their hundreds to present Mrs Agbarha as their candidate, urged their male counterparts to support her as they had supported them in the past.
The APC Woman Leader in the state,  Dr Aisosa Amadesun, who presented the female aspirant to the state chairman of the party, Mr. Anslem Ojezua, declared that Edo women had resolved to produce the first female governor in the country, asserting that the time of playing second fiddle was over.
According to Mrs Amadesun, “We are united in producing the first female governor in Nigeria after we failed in Taraba State. We are seeking the support of our men because we have always supported them. The people you see here today are not just APC women, we have women across political lines, including women from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, because their party too couldn’t field any female aspirant. The market women, even the men, are also behind us in this struggle.”
Addressing the crowd, Mrs Agbarha said Edo women have decided to speak with one voice. “I am ready to lead this struggle. Our governor has performed and I want to build on his achievements so that Edo State will not go back to the dark days. I am appealing to APC delegates to look at the direction of the women. Money is not everything, but by the special grace of God, the men will provide the money to support us in this historic battle for the APC governorship ticket,” she said.
In his response, Ojezua hailed the courage of the women, admonishing them to work harder as the primaries of the party will be free and fair.
