Members of the G-14, an umbrella organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elders in Zones ‘A’ and ‘B’ Senatorial districts of Benue State, have reaffirmed the leadership of former Governor Gabriel Torwua Suswam as the leader of the party in Benue State.
They also reinstated their support for Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the national chairman of the party.
This was made known in a communique issued at the end of an extraordinary meeting of Benue State PDP working committee, signed by the chairman, G-14 Elders Forum, Dr. Laha Dzever, and made available to newsmen, yesterday.
The communique, however, urged all stakeholders of the party to cooperate with the party leadership at all levels to ensure hitch-free and successful conduct of its congress in a manner that would minimise grievances and disenchantment within party ranks.
It also urged all members of the party to upheld the supremacy of the party as enshrined in its constitution at all times.
The communique read in part: “All PDP card carrying members must exhibit loyalty and obedience to the party.
through respect for its statutory and mandated organs in all of their dealings with the party and in the pursuit of their lawful aspirations and ambitions.
“Regarding the forthcoming congresses of the party at the various levels, the zoning of Executive Committee positions at those levels, as put in place by the leadership of the party, must be conformed with, while ensuring that the best qualified, suitable and committed party men and women are elected to the various offices, for the ultimate good and progress of the party.
It further stated that strict discipline must be maintained at all times and in all situations through the ranks and hierarchy of the party, as only a disciplined and purposeful organisation can achieve its target aims and objectives.
“The state working committee of the party is, therefore, advised to take all necessary steps, henceforth, to implement those decisions and resolutions as soon as possible, and also not to hesitate to mete out appropriate sanctions on any erring member or group within the party, no matter how highly placed,” the statement added.
