Benue State government yesterday praised the service chiefs deployed to the state over their roles in tackling the security challenge that gripped the state on the heels of the massacre of thousands of innocent farmers by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The State Deputy Governor, Mr. Benson Abounu, gave the commendation, during a chat with journalists on the state of security in Benue State.
Meanwhile, Abounu lauded the synergy between the government and the various security formations in the state, such as the Army, Air Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), among others.
He noted that it was as a result of their cooperation that peace and order had returned to the crisistorn areas of the state.
The governor said: “Let me state that the crop of service chiefs that we have in the state are wonderful. The synergy with which they are working is very closely knitted and I have never seen this type of cooperation since I started work in government. The police, army, NSCDC, NDLEA, and others are working so closely together and cooperating with the government. Indeed, this is how we were able to calm the people and brought peace to the area and the people have started returning to their homes.”
