An American based company, Averson is to invest multi-million US dollars for the processing of agricultural products in Benue State.
The Director, Innovation and Technical Service of the Company, Dr Philip Yakubu made this known today when he led other officials of the Company to pay a courtesy call on Governor Samuel Ortom at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
Dr Yakubu who is also an indigene of the state based in the United States, said the company which has a track record of competence in processing of primary products was motivated by the enabling environment created by the Ortom administration.
He explained that they were at the stage of carrying out feasibility studies on a number of crops such as soya beans, mangoes, oranges, yams and rice among others with a view to harnessing them and encouraging farmers to go into massive production as there would be a huge market for them.
Also speaking, the Managing Director, NEZAM Group of companies, Mr Terna Hemba, stated that their coming to Benue was a follow-up on the Governor's visit to the US to seek partnership with them.
On his part, the Director, Global Projects, Mr. Peter Zandrasta, promised that they would work with farmers in the State to secure agricultural products and process them effectively for the benefit of the entire State.
Addressing the US Investors, Governor Samuel Ortom said the proposed investment of the foreign company was in line with his administration's development blueprint "Our Collective Vision For a New Benue" as the partnership would help boost the economy of the State.
The Governor who commended the US investors for choosing to invest in Benue State without financial commitment of his administration, challenged well to do individuals home and in the diaspora to take advantage of the enabling environment to add value to the socio-economic development of the State.
