Major stakeholders from Vandeikya local government area of Benue State today commended the efforts of Governor Samuel Ortom in developing the state in the past nine months.
A powerful delegation led by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Dennis Ityavyar and the Acting Ter Kunav, Chief Augustine Aule, described Governor Ortom as a sincere and transparent leader who has introduced accountability in all aspects of governance.
Professor Ityavyar said the Governor’s love for the people of the area as reflected through the appointment of sons and daughters of the area and his people oriented programmes had endeared him to them.
He said the people would remain grateful to the Governor for providing a shade for them and continue to support him to succeed.
Also speaking, the Acting Ter Kunav, Chief Aule, said Governor Ortom had demonstrated the commitment only associated with good leaders and urged him to continue with the laudable work, stressing that the people will always stand behind him to do more for the state.
Others who spoke included the All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman in Vandeikya, Alhaji Aseer Ihyongo, Benue State House of Assembly member, Hon. Titus Uba, former State Assembly member, Hon. Dorathy Mato, Engr. Mike Vaatia, President General of the Kunav Development Association, KUDA, and Mr. John Usaka Chief Executive Officer of Bays Garden.
On Alhaji Abubakar Tsav's persistent attacks on the person and office of Governor Ortom, speakers at the event appealed to the Governor to disregard the conduct of the retired policeman as they distanced Vandeikya people from his statements.
They said for a man who had no house in the entire local government area, does not vote in the area where none of his children live, he certainly does not represent their interest.
Responding, Governor Ortom thanked the people of Kunav for the honour done him and his wife at the thanksgiving service of Professor Ityavyar, saying that he has enjoyed a cordial relationship with their sons and daughters who he said had played significant roles in his becoming Governor.
He assured the delegation that his administration will continue to initiate projects and programmes that would have positive impact on the lives of the people, promising that projects which have direct bearing on the people but were abandoned by the previous administration will be completed.
