The PPRO Benue State Command Asp Moses Yamu through a phone chat with BenueForum.com gave reasons why the MAFO((MOVEMENT AGAINST FULANI OCCUPATION) Protest was cancelled today.
Asp Moses said that MAFO letter of protest did not get to them on time,that the letter was brought to them yesterday by 12:00 PM. According to him, letters of protest are supposed to be given four or three days before the day of
protest to enable police prepare.
He further lamented that;in the letter MAFO said they want to organise a peaceful protest against Fulani invasion, It was also indicated in the letter that the protest Will be from Cool-off pack to Wurukum Market,Modern Market and to Benue state house of Assembly Complex,Which government house was an exception.
He added that,had the letter be brought to them about Four or three days back it would have been approved after carrying out investigations.
According to the PPRO, Wurukum Market and Modern Market were really one of the places facing security challenges in Makurdi at the moment.
Aside that, they would have gone to the Assembly Complex to meet nobody as House of Assembly Members are currently in Gboko having a retreat.
He said they even suggested next week to MAFO so as to enable them prepare but the officials of MAFO turned down their suggestion.
Asp Moses concluded by saying,the police will at anytime cooperate with members of the public in bring peace to their homes and community.
