Following pockets of violence against revenue-collecting officials across the state, Governor Samuel Ortom has threatened to ban the activities of commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as Okada in Benue State.
At a meeting with leaders of the Benue Motorcycle Association, Ortom insisted that commercial motorcycle operators comply with directives from the Benue State Internal Revenue Service for their registration or face a ban on their activities, saying the biometric capture was in their best interest and that of the state.
He added that the cost of the registration had been reduced from N3, 000 to N1, 650, 00 which covered reflective vest, smart identity and security card as well as digital tracking system.
The Governor therefore urged the people of the state to support efforts to boost internally generated revenue.
