Benue State Government has promised to secure every part of the State that was under threat of attack by Fulani Herdsmen.
Governor Samuel Ortom made this known today in his Office when he received Members of the Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund on assessment visit to the State led by the Executive Director Mr.Sunday Ochoche.
Governor Ortom said following renewed attack on Agatu People by Fulani Herdsmen leading to loss of lives and property,it was expedient for his administration to ensure that all Communities under threat were secured using acceptable and conventional means.
The Governor who conveyed President Mohammadu Buhari's directive to be proactive in handling security matters in the State,appealed for cooperation of all to achieve peace.
He described move by the Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund to assess the situation on ground as apt as it would afford its Members the opportunity to see the level of damage caused for necessary action.
Earlier in a remark,the Executive Director of the Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund,Mr.Ochoche told the Governor that they were in the State to assess Agatu and other Communities that had been destroyed as a result of Fulani attacks with a view to providing succour to the victims.
The Executive Director promised that they would work closely with the State Government to provide immediate solution to the lingering crisis between Farmers and Herdsmen in the State and commiserated with the Government and People of Benue over the lives and property so far lost.
