*As committee approves N143 million for payment
Benue State Exco Committee to fast track payment of bail out funds to both local government Staff and primary school teachers has approved # 143,981,216.78 for another round of payment.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Titus Zam,who disclosed this after the meeting of the committee today, Tuesday, 15th March 2016 stated that the amount was meant for payment of bail out to 584 additional Staff of local government who have been verified and confirmed to be genuine staff who did not part-take in the initial verification exercises.
Hon.Zam hinted that the figure also includes primary school teachers who were not paid their bail out since the beginning of the exercise.
The Special Adviser assured that genuine and verified complaints would be processed and necessary action taken.
In another development, the Special Adviser has explained lthat those who will not be considered for the payment of bail out are unverified staff, those with fake and backdated appointment letters and all those whose employment was done after the February 2012 benchmark.
According to Hon. Zam, with this approval the total number of verified and genuine staff stands at 24,911.
The Special Adviser called for patience and support from all and sundry to enable the Ortom Administration sanitize the local government system by evolving a productive and manageable workforce at the third tier.
