Political parties in Bayelsa State under the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sagbama local council area of the state have commended the state Governor, Seriake Dickson over the fresh appointments of secretary to State Government (SSG) and others.
According to the IPAC and Sagbama PDP members, though the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson is known for accountability and quality of policies and appoinent, the decision to make the former PDP chairman, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff the SSG and re-appoint Hon Ebizimor Odiomu-Brown as deputy chief of staff will ensure experience and continuity.
The members of IPAC in Bayelsa, led by Prince Oniekpe and Secretary, Prince Ben Elemah, in the statement issued yesterday described the appointment of the SSG as “a square peg in a square hole”, and said “We commend our amiable governor for his visionary leadership and foresight in the appointment of the SSG. We thank him for bringing technocrats and seasoned administrators to move Bayelsa state to the next level.”
In a separate statement, Prince Vincent Dakoru, a chieftain of the PDP from Sagbama, home council of the Governor Hon.Seriake Dickson said the re-appointment of the deputy chief of staff, Ebize Odioma Brown and other old hands will ensure the administration hit the ground running in the next four years.
Dakoru said “The appointment will afford the people of the state to look inward and support the present administration to ensure proper development inspite of the dwindling revenue. For instance there is the need to support a government and private partnership on the redundant Bayelsa Palms.”
“The Bayelsa Palms, if properly harnessed will provide over 5,000 jobs and ensure multiple revenue for the state. The direct investment drive of the present administration is yielding results with some investors ready and willing to partner with the state the area of low cost housing for our people.”
