CommunityLinkInitiative, one of the development partners in Nigeria in collaboration with the BSU Centre for Food Technology and Research, today introduced post harvest solar dehydration machine for preservation of Tomatoes and Pepper to farmers in Ushongo Local Government of Benue State.
The simple technology is transferred from Finland to help Benue State farmers in the control of post harvest losses.
Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom, who commissioned the Tomapep Dehydration Machines, charged all farmers to embrace the technology to enhance their productivity to take advantage of the global food security challenges and by extension, reposition by In its rightful place as Food Basket of the Nation.
The Engineer from Finland, Mr. Abiodun Alabi stated the machine have the capacity 30kg of Tomatoes and pepper in a day. And local artisans could easily manufacture it at ease as the science and technology behind the dehydration device is simple.
The Country Manager of CommunityLinks Initiative, Mrs. Helen Teghtegh in her vote of thanks, commended the government of Benue State for embarking on Agriculture - Driven Industrialization Policy which is inline with the state's area of comparative and competitive advantage.
